Beyond the Clinic

The person behind the physician.

Medicine demands precision and presence. So does everything else worth doing. Here's what keeps me curious, grounded, and genuinely happy outside the hospital.

Graphic Design

Visual communication has always felt like a second language. I gravitate toward clean, minimal design — the kind that says exactly what it needs to and nothing more. Typography, layout, and the tension between white space and content are genuinely interesting problems.

Pencil Sketching

There's something meditative about pencil on paper. No undo button, no layers — just observation and mark-making. Portraits and architectural details are a particular draw. It's the slowest, most deliberate form of looking.

Travel

New places recalibrate perspective in ways that nothing else quite does. I'm drawn to cities with layered histories — places where the old and new coexist in interesting tension. New York's energy, the warmth of the Midwest, and the depth of European cities have all left their mark. The food, the pace, the way people move through space.

Video Games & Gaming Culture

Games have been a constant. RPGs pull me in with their world-building and narrative depth — the kind of story that unfolds over forty hours and still surprises you. Simulation and city-building games scratch a different itch: the satisfaction of systems working together, of a well-run city or a thriving colony. And yes, I still catch Pokémon on my phone. Staying current with gaming culture — new releases, community conversations, the craft behind game design — is something I genuinely enjoy keeping up with.

Family, Friends & Food

The people in my life are the best part of it. Time with my fiancée, my parents, my future in-laws, and close friends is where I recharge. We share a love of vegetarian food — exploring new restaurants, cooking together, finding the best dal in an unexpected city. These moments, unhurried and full of good conversation, are what everything else is in service of.

Health Informatics

The gap between what medicine knows and what it can actually deliver at scale is a design problem as much as a clinical one. EHR workflows, POCUS integration, and AI-assisted decision support are areas I think about constantly — both as a clinician and as someone who cares about systems.

Coffee Culture

Coffee is ritual. The process matters as much as the result — grind size, water temperature, extraction time. There's a satisfying overlap between the precision of a good pour-over and the precision medicine demands. Also, it just tastes good.

Marvel Universe

The MCU is a masterclass in long-form storytelling and world-building. I've been along for the whole ride — from Phase 1 through the multiverse era. There's genuine craft in how those narratives layer character development across decades of content.

Curiosity doesn't clock out.

The same drive that pushes toward better clinical outcomes pushes toward better design, better travel, better coffee — and a better Pokédex. It's all the same instinct: to understand something more deeply and do it better.
